Pet Portraits
I know firsthand just how important our fur babies are to us. From the age of five I have had one companion I could always rely on. My cat Lacy is probably my biggest inspiration. She has been with me through breakups, through graduating high school, through navigating my adult life, and has even seen me through to marriage. Even at her age of 19, she still has so much love and life in her.
Our Pets matter. Im here to help you keep them alive forever.
Lacy will be our model. Here is a pet portrait I did of her a couple years ago. I was experimenting with collage art, trying to find my signature “look”.
How it works…
I will need at least 3 Photos of your pet in different positions. The variety of photos allows me to see the colors and characters of your pet accurately. The photos should be in good lighting, ideally white natural light. Warm light photos are fine, but warm light is known to distort the color of your pet. I will not be able to accurately capture your pets fur color if the lighting is off.
This may be hard, especially if you a grumpy kitty or an overly excitable pup. Here’s a few tips I have for you to get the best photo possible:
take a video of them doing tricks/commands, then go through and screenshot good frames.
Food motivation works so well! My Lacy LOVES cheese. In most of these photos, I had cheese in my hand (off camera) and held it where I wanted her to look.

Its nearly impossible to create a good piece if i don’t have a good picture. In order to re-create your pet as accurately as possible, i need a picture where i can see your pets Fur Colors, Eye Colors, and Patterns. I need a sharp image, Not a grainy or blurred photo. Weird poses and positions of your pet make it hard to see your pet correctly.
For pets that are no longer with us, I have looked up breeds that resemble your pets. For example, if you had a white shiatzu, I will google search the breed and use those photos to fill in any blanks that i cant get from your photos. Don’t worry, all your pets unique markings and/or characteristics will still be drawn in as long as they are noticeable in the given photos.
However this method isn’t as accurate as a good picture. So if the pet is still available to you, I would strongly encourage getting a photo with good lighting and clarity.
Its important to keep in mind that I’ve never seen your pet before, so I’m ONLY going on pictures I’ve been given.
